The Tainted Cup

In a realm that defends itself against colossal sea monsters—called Leviathans - a quirky detective named Ana Dolabra, together with her new assistant Dinios Kol, investigates a brutal murder: a senior officer dies when a tree explodes from his body. The bizarre inquiry takes the mismatched duo through a world where magical genetic alterations are everyday and deadly plagues are avoided. Din, whose memory has been perfected through interventions, serves as Ana’s living archive, while she—always traveling with a blindfold—unravels a conspiracy that threatens the entire empire through razor‑sharp deduction. Bennett’s story blends classic detective puzzle mechanics in the style of Holmes and Watson with an original fantasy setting full of political intrigue. The tone is witty, tense, and intelligent, while the central question remains: Who benefits from the chaos—and how far does the corruption extend?
