The Ministry of Time

In the near future a secret British ministry saves people moments before their historic deaths and brings them into the present – an experiment to explore time travel. An unnamed narrator of Cambodian‑British origin takes on the role of “Bridge” and looks after Commander Graham Gore, a polar explorer from 1847. From the shared‑living‑space arrangement an intense romantic relationship develops over a hot summer, while Gore adapts to the modern world – washing machines, feminism, Spotify. But behind the façade lies betrayal: spies from the future, a mole in the ministry, and a dystopian plan that links colonialism with climate catastrophe. The narrator must decide whether love is stronger than history – and whether her choices can change the future. Bradley’s debut playfully blends genres: a time‑travel romance meets a spy thriller, workplace comedy meets political commentary on power, migration and identity. The tone swings between sharp wit, erotic tension and melancholic seriousness.
